Diagnostic Assessments for Dyslexia

I offer advice and diagnostic assessments for individuals aged 7-18 years.

Qualifications

I hold a level 7 qualification in Teaching and Assessing learners with specific learning difficulties (Dyslexia) up to 18 years. I hold a current Assessment Practising Certificate (APC) from the British Dyslexia Association. I am also a qualified SENCO, have an MSc in Child Development and Learning and have many years teaching experience.

The Assessment Process

A full diagnostic assessment is appropriate for students aged 8 years or over.

The assessment takes approximately 3 - 3.5 hours. Following the assessment you will receive a full and detailed report with a diagnosis (if appropriate based on the results of the assessment) and comprehensive recommendations for both school and home.

The assessment can take place at my home in Tring, Hertfordshire, your child's school or your home.

Prior to the assessment, I ask both school  and parents to provide information about your child via a questionnaire. Once the questionnaires are returned, a £100 deposit is payable to secure a date for the assessment session. A balance of £450 is payable on, or before, the day of the assessment.

Following the assessment, the report will be sent via email in a password protected PDF document. Once you have had time to digest the report, a telephone conversation can be scheduled to discuss any questions that you may have. A more detailed feedback meeting can be arranged if required (at an additional cost).

If you have any questions please feel free to contact me via the form below or via email at tringdyslexia@gmail.com

Educational Assessments

When a child is younger than 8 and there are concerns around their reading, writing or spelling development an educational assessment may be appropriate.

This will assess some key cognitive skills and literacy attainment (word reading, comprehension, oral reading skills, spelling, handwriting and written composition) and based on what this reveals, will offer personalised recommendations to support literacy skills moving forward, all summarised within a short report.

This can be useful when a child isn't yet old enough for a full diagnostic assessment, but parents and/or the school have concerns and are keen to get targeted intervention in place as early as possible.

The cost for an educational assessment is £200.
